Carolyn Luck, Managing Director Carolyn Luck assumed the role of Managing Director of WPWP in the fall of 2003. Previously, she had served as Project Administrator, a position she had held since February 1999. She has a professional background in non-profit administration in arts and social services. She worked as a volunteer with Calliope, The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society, while raising her son. Carolyn is a writer with poems published in Poet Lore and Southern Poetry Review.
Connie Sowinski, Project Administrator Connie Sowinski has been an employee of the University of Pittsburgh for more than 20 years. She worked first for the University Center for Instructional Resources as the Non-Print Media Buyer where she coordinated the acquisition of hundreds of titles for the University's collection. In 1989, she transferred to the Department of English and acted as the professional secretary for the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of English. She later moved on to the central business office for the Department of English where she supported more than 35 professors. It was during this time that Connie first began her service for the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project as one of her many responsibilities. Later, at the request of the Director, she was transferred into her current position as full-time WPWP secretary. Among her many personal activities, Connie takes classes in ballet and is an avid swimmer and hiker. Patsy K. Eagan, Graduate Student Assistant Patsy K. Eagan is an MFA candidate in nonfiction writing at the University of Pittsburgh. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a BA in Modern Literary Studies, and has since worked in publishing, theater and politics. Patsy has also taught reading and writing, and will have earned a Certificate in Teaching Composition at Pitt when she graduates in 2008. Her manuscript project for her MFA degree is a memoir set in Oakland, California. Patsy designs WPWP's website and edits The Bulletin. Update: Patsy has graduated with her MFA in Creative Non-Fiction and has returned to California. Thanks, Patsy! Back to top |
